Jerry Halsband graduated from Cornell University, served in the U. S. Air Force and spent his life career owning and directing children’s camps. He owned Lenni Len-A- Pe (coed) for 11 years, then purchased Raquette Lake Boy's Camp and Raquette Lake Girl's Camp in 1973. He ran it together with his wife Rennie for 28 years. After a sale in 2000, he has been consulting with a number of private and non-profit camps around the country helping them to make critical decisions, develop their programs, recruit staff, strengthen their camper retention, determine capital needs, institute cost saving techniques and building their enrollment. Jerry served on the board of the Association of Private Camps. While on the board, he offered his camp for the first standards inspection in camping. He was a member of the New York State Camp Directors Association and the American Camp Association as well as being active in a variety of charities and associations. Dr. Bal Moore has been involved with camping for 18 years as Head of Tennis at Raquette Lake Camps (New York); Camp Deerhorn (Wisconsin); and Pacesetter Academy (Florida). In addition he has personally placed over 100 staff throughout the Northeast in various sports and administration capacities. Dr. Moore has coached varsity tennis at the University of Kentucky, Western Kentucky University, and Jefferson State College where he was also a faculty member for 33 years. He has the highest rating in the United States Professional Tennis Association as a Master Professional, and in 1992 the USPTA honored him as "Coach of the Year". Dr. Moore has coached four national champions, written five books, and along with his wife Marcha, USPTA, owns and teaches during the summers at the Northwoods Tennis Academy in Wisconsin. Both are in Collegiate Hall of Fame. In 1989 he became involved in wheelchair tennis, coaching world and Para-lympic champion Randy Snow for 12 years. Together they traveled Europe and Japan where Randy won many national championships. Moore was the USA Men’s Wheelchair Tennis coach for six years, winning the World Team Cup (sequel to Davis Cup) four times. |
